About Moniek

I help you find support when the pain and grief feel overwhelming. You can share your story and simply breathe. Your sorrow matters. Give it space. In nature, there’s nothing to judge you.
I’m Moniek Rouweler, 49 years old, living in Eindhoven with my husband and our two children, who were born in Africa. I was never really ‘into’ to forests as a child, but now I wouldn’t want to have a day without hiking! Rain or shine, I head out for a walk—sometimes alone, other times with a friend or a coachee. Whoever I walk with, I listen. And I listen deeply—not just to the words, but to the heart and feelings behind them.
Genuine attention is essential to me.
That’s why I limit myself to just two walking-coaching sessions per day—with buffers, so I can be fully present for each person. I give you the time and space to truly share what you’re going through.
This is unlike walking with a friend, where the conversation often shifts quickly: “How are you doing?”
I don’t come with advice or attempts to reassure. I can’t take your grief away—and I don’t need to. There is nothing to be fixed or repaired. You’re allowed to feel sad, scared, angry.
People often want to comfort you so that you “stop feeling sad.” But that’s not how it works. I listen with full attention. I’m here for you. I walk a piece of the way alongside you, until you’re ready to keep going, with new or rediscovered insights—and with your own strength.
My personal experience with grief
I know what it’s like to live with unsettled emotions. Walking outdoors helped me tremendously during times of restlessness, grief, and anger—and it still does. The moment I close the door behind me, I feel a shift. Even if it starts with shedding tears or worries, calm follows as I absorb the sounds and scents around me.
In that stillness, creativity returns.
New ideas emerge. While walking, I feel trust and a more positive outlook on life. I love sharing that experience with you.
Training & development
I was born with big ears and a big heart, which perhaps explains why I’m such a good listener!
  • I studied Dutch language and literature at Radboud University in Nijmegen and worked for years as a communications advisor and patient information officer.
  • Seeking deeper human connection, I completed my post‑HBO training as a walking coach with Coachbureau Hilde Backus, one of the pioneers in the Netherlands.
  • In 2021, I trained in mourning over unfulfilled fertility desires with Maya Meerbeek.
  • I receive Ayurvedic life guidance (and do a detox twice yearly) under Annelies Lammers.
  • I’m committed to lifelong learning: I’ve planned two more professional trainings in 2025: How to be a Companion at the End of Life by Rosamund Oliver and Lost at Riet Fiddelaers.
