Away from the computer, away from the crowded office garden. Even away from the walls of my house and my tiny garden.
Every day I go out for a walk, regardless weather conditions.
It really helped me in a period when I felt tired and I didn’t know what to do. Hiking turned out to be the best way for me to relax. I noticed that I became more creative, I got new ideas and I became more self-confident.
As a copywriter, a communication advisor, a hospital officer and a Dutch language teacher for foreigners, I always felt a strong connection with the one whom I worked with. Although I did my job with dedication, I often missed something.
Working as a walking coach is very different from that. I connect with my client, and I give attention to her. We directly dive into the deep. Women who I coached before said that I was the only one who really understood them. I am so grateful that I can do this for them, but at the same time I feel sad that it is obviously difficult to find someone who understands you and takes the time to listen to you.
I don’t advise or give you reassurance. I cannot take over your sorrow. That is not necessary. You don’t need to be fixed. Allow yourself to feel sad and afraid or angry. I listen to you with high attention, and help you move forward. I walk next to you for a while. After our hikes, you will know your strength and you will have faith in yourself.
Education and development – I followed the post-HBO training course at the Coachbureau of Hilde Backus to become a walking coach. – I studied Dutch language- and literature at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. – I studied French at the University of Angers (in France).
